Tampere, Mänttä art city and Seitseminen National Park

Tampere, Mänttä art city and Seitseminen National Park

Tampere  is the second largest city in Finland after the capital area. It is lively and developing town with its own university and location in the middle of Finland and two beautiful lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. Best you will see the town views from bird perspectives, from the Näsineula tower and from the waters.  You will also visit quickly the Sara Hilden museum of arts as well as eat lunch at Vapriikki, an old industrial mileau changed to a museum and restaurant area.

Mänttä  likewise Tampere is an old industrial town, which has profiled as an art city in the recent years, especially after the new Gösta pavilion of arts was opened in 2014. Gösta pavilion is an arts exhibition center and in itself a masterpiece of wooden architecture. The Serlachius Museum Gösta also has a collection of Finnish art from its golden years 1880-1910. The Serlachius Museum Gustaf again introduces the biography of G.A.Serlachius in an interactive way in its exhibition called  "Paper Devil".

Seitseminen National Park  is forest area with tall, old trees, hills and marshes. It could be called Finland's backwoods. Your day tour will start from the nature center and continue along the ridge Seitsemisharju to the Kirkaslampi barbeque place, where the lunch will be served. Bus will take you from there to the Kovero heritage farm, where you can see and feel, how life used to be in the backwoods. Last you will hike to the Multiharju old forest area with exceptionally grand deadwood.

Your hotel  originally was only a sauna owned by a local sports union. This was the place where our former president Urho Kekkonen used to come in his private time. Nowadays it also has a small hotel with stylish art rooms. You are surrounded by art in this hotel, in which every artifact has a story.
