Tentsile Paddling Adventure in Repovesi National Park

Tentsile Paddling Adventure in Repovesi National Park

Paddling adventure from the rich nature of Repovesi National Park along old logging route to the World Heritage Site Verla with a night in a wilderness camp sleeping up in a tree, one night in a cabin with lake view.

Repovesi National Park (15km2) together with the private Griffin's Forest Nature Reserve (14km2) owned by UPM is located in the area of Kouvola and Mantyharju. You can find there large forest areas as well as high cliffs and tens of smaller and bigger lakes with translucent water. The fauna is versatile. There are red-throated divers, flying squirrels, owls, lynxes, pine martens, elks, otters and beavers living in the area. The lake landscape varies between open lake views and narrow crossings and wetlands. Sounds, birdlife, colours and scents will boost senses - genuine outdoor life.

Vuohijarvi nature and culture house  is a location, where we'll stop on the way. The summer exhibition 2017 celebrates the 100 year of independence of Finland. Exhibition Survivors describes the life of Finnish animals and touching scenes of nature in a unique way. The artists of the exhibition are professor Jussi Mäntynen, bird photographer Markus Varesvuo and visual artist Minna Pyykkö.

Tentsile Adventure Camp  is a complete escape from everyday life. You will explore the nature by foot and by kayaking. You will sleep in a tree. The adventure has been created by minimising the ecological footprint. To participate, you simply need a normal, good physical shape.

At the Tentsile Adventure Camp you will learn, how to set up one of the Tentsiles ready for accommodation. You will have a private beach, a beautiful natural shore for swimming in natural water. Cooking will take place together by campfire creating adventurous athmosphere and warming up on chilly nights.

Tentsile  is a tent hammock or hammock tent for 1-3 people and their equipment. It is hanging from a tree and offers a good shelter for backpackers.

World Heritage Site Verla  is an old industrial village, which has grown around a groundwood and board mill. The indutstrial perios ended in Verla in 1964, when the last remaining employees retired. Verla is an extraordinary well preserved example of the small-scale pulp and board industry born in the countryside of northern Europe and North America in late 1800's and early 1900's. There is a guided tour in English available.

Here you will stay one night in a cabin in the idyllic mill village of Verla. These cabins can accommodate 4-6 people. Each cabin has its own sauna turn of 1 hour. Dinner will be served either before of after the sauna. Next morning the boardmill museum opens up at 10 so you can take a good look before having lunch at the museum restaurant.

Age limit: 15yrs
